Going Green

Our Going Green Philosophy is simple:  Just good planning and building designs, and using energy efficient appliances such as water conservation, healthy indoor air quality and sustainable, long lasting, material.  Reusing or recycling items that can fit in new design instead of a landfill.

Since the 1970’s green things have come and gone, but now it’s a way of life, for example everyone is breaking down their trash at home separating paper, aluminum, and plastic from the bio degradable garbage. Not only for everyday living but in remodeling items can reused.  Items such as reclaimed lumber, engineered lumber, forest stewardship, and council certified wood- (selectively cut and pesticide free). Green is more natural lighting and better acoustics, cleaner air for our schools.  This movement for teachers and our children has become 2nd nature to learn and understand.  Most adults are still struggling with the concept, but as more contractors, whether new construction or remodeling, start demanding more products with the help of customers, these products will become more and more available from suppliers.  This will force them to change the old product lines and bring in green materials and get the costs in line.  Some areas that are already being worked on are:

·         Healthier paints and finishes for wood products

·         Better air quality and appliance energy ratings

·         Deconstruction versus demolition (reuse 2x4 instead of it being in landfill)

·         Lighting with CFL instead of incandescent which uses 5% on light and 95% on heat!
